I passed by a BP station today (I think) in East Brunswick, NJ with regular priced at 3.45 gallon. It always amazed me how much of New Jersey has gas cheaper than a lot of the nation. They employ people to pump the gas for you, yet it's cheaper. Boggles my mind.
I think its because NJ gas taxes are lower than surrounding states. It makes no sense to me.....gas here in PA is more expensive, yet I have to pump it myself. Its the fault of our tax-and-spend windbag governor Ed Rendell....he almost doubled the gas tax.

I got gas at a Valero for $3.43 and it was raining, so not having to get off my car to pump the gas made me happy. Then I got back home this morning and gas was $3.70 and it was raining and I had to pump it myself.
I always heard the reason was if they do away with the no pumping restriction, they would have to lower the price....seems strange tho..I still have to pump my own diesel! What's up with that? lol Can't wait to sell in NJ and move to Cherryville!

It's also due to not having to pay a lot of insurance to cover customers if they get hurt pumping their own.

I can't wait to get out of here, too
The reason is because most attendants don't like to pump diesel or their diesel pumps are away from the regular gas so they have to finish up what they are doing before walking over.
