What area are you in? My son is a DirecTV supervisor down near Burlington County. If you are down here, I can ask if he knows if your area can even get it. He services Trenton as well as Camden & Glouster Counties.
Now would be a good time to see about DirecTV since the trees have started leafing out.
Although I no longer live in NJ, we do have Direct TV. We have it primarily for the sports packages-NFL Sunday ticket, baseball and hockey. We are happy with Direct TV and their channel selection.
I am not sure where you live, but if you are a Philly sports fan you will not get Comcast sportsnet Philly due to a loophole that Comcast uses and thus unable to watch most Flyers/Phillies games.
Also if you live in an area where cable gives you both New York and Philly channels, you will no longer get both-just one city depending on where you live.
Hands down, Direct TV is superior to Cablevision/Comcast. More affordable, better service and better selection of channels.
