I'm looking at potentially working for a company with their office in the Exchange Place area Jersey City. I'm looking for something that's not too insane trying to get to work and spending no more $1800/mon (min 1br). Suggestions on areas to look in? I've been to the area but not really familiar with neighborhoods of interest/to avoid.

Thanx

Paulus Hook is a nice, quiet residential area adjacent to Exchange Place. You'll be able to walk to work, and 1-brs are available in your price range. The areas around Van Vorst Park and Hamilton Park are other nice residential neighborhoods nearby and in your price range. Paulus Hook, VVP and HP are historic neighborhoods with lots of low-rise brownstone rowhouses. If you like highrises with super-modern everything and views of Manhattan, there's the Newport area and some buildings scattered around Exchange Place and near the Grove St PATH station that will suit you. They're kinda pricey though.
