Hello everyone,

i'm thinking about moving to new jersey or new york city. I've heard that you can find better apartments for your money in new jersey and still live close to Manhattan.

I have 2 roommates and we are looking for a 2 bedroom apartment for around $1200-$1400.

Could you please recommend nice, safe, quiet neighborhoods in New Jersey that are close to Manhattan and the subway?

I am going to grad school in newark, NJ, my friends are interested in the police academy in NYC. We need something suitable in between.

pick any two:
cheap
close to transport
desirable neighborhood

JSQ and Harrison are reasonably safe, and reasonably affordable. I happen to like JSQ, but it isn't exactly upscale.

like elflord1973 said, pick any two:

inexpensive
accessible
desirable neighborhood

...you won't get all 3.

consider an apt. in a 2 or 3 family home along the "Gold Coast"

uptown North Bergen
Guttenberg
West New York
Weehawken
Union City
Hoboken
Jersey City
Bayonne
