wrong. You need a 2 zone bus pass or a monthly/week train pass to right the light rail for free

Also, it all depends on the line. The 156/158/159 will make change on trips INTO the city. They will also make change heading the opposite way, with the only exception being that if you get on at the Port Authority, they require a ticket. This is sto speed up buses there (and was changed only last October). The 126 line NEVER makes change.

Can we use nj transit monthly 1 zone
bus pass in light rail?

I have a trip to Seaside tomorrow and njtransit says that I can catch a bus from journal square at 12 for $15 to Toms River. Can I use my monthly bus pass for that bus ride? It's a 2 zone pass thats interstate.

On the Newark Light Rail and RiverLine, yes. On the HBLR, you need a two zone pass.

You'd get charged a step-up fee, and for the distance to Toms River, it would be cheaper to just pay the full fare directly, since the step-up fee isn't just the full-fare minus the 2 zone fare: It's an incremental charge.
