287 is a major thoroughfare across the state. Your alternative is back roads. All major roads are filled during rush hour.

287 gets jammed especially from the turnpike/parkway/ rt1 heading north in the am buts opens up after river rd and even more after 202/206, 22/78.

No comparison with 287 traffic below rt 22 and above rt 22 on a daily basis. that south bound traffic just sits for miles at 4:30pm. Rate limiting location has always been the 287 on-ramp from the east end of Hadley mall area just before new durham rd exit. Traffic magically opens up at that point. Now that commute is a bear!!

That's what I thought too.
In this case, she would be missing the really bad part as she would always be north of 22.

The GSP is a nightmare during rush hour IMO from the Turnpike all the way up to Rte 80. And then if it rains? Or on a Friday night?

Traffic is everywhere in NJ, move someplace with a train or leave for work at 6 am and get home by 4:30

One town in the entire county? Middlesex is not the place to be.

the areas within a 10 mile radius of Bridgewater is clearly your best bet. North to Bernardsville, west to Whitehouse, south to Hillsborough, and east to Warren. Branchburg would be a best buy

oh and to comment on the Middlesex County controversy, its a fine county with good schools and some really nice towns such as Cranbury (as mentioned), Plainsboro, South Brunswick, East Brunswick and Monroe to name a few. Somerset, Hunterdon and Morris counties are superior in virtually every way.

Middlesex County is very nice and has you mentioned, has a lot of very nice towns in it. It's also closer to the shore, which is a huge bonus in my eyes. I think for this case, the OP should focus on the Somerset Co. area, but I don't understand the Middlesex bashing.
