Hi, im english and my wifes american, from miami and we are moving from england to new jersey..we are looking at south plainfield or parlin, which would be the best area....
Why are you looking at those areas? Where is your job going to be located? Do you have children that will be attending school? What sort of rent/mortgage do you want to pay? Will you be driving or do you need the train? The more information you can provide the better we can advise you. I'm sure with more background info you will get many responses.
Best of luck!
Hi.
Thanks for your reply..we do not have kids, and i will be working in pisscataway.
The reson we picked those areas was we found a really nice town house to rent,so wondered what the areas where like,we are only renting for 6months before looking to buy so we want a good base to start from then look for a house.
Paul
There are much better areas to consider. Not sure what your budget is, but Somerset, Morris or Monmouth counties in my opinion are much nicer than Middlesex. Essex county would even be a good choice if you can afford the Fanwood, Westfield or Summit localities.
Hi we're moving from England to NJ this summer as well. My British husband has a job near Woodbridge, I am originally from NJ. I have family that live in South Plainfield. It's a perfectly nice town. If you were only planning on renting for 6 months and with no kids, I wouldn't see any problem at all with renting there. We do have a child, so will be taking schools into consideration. We've decided to move to Westfield, which is in Union County. Other very nice towns in Union County are Scotch Plains, Cranford, Fanwood, Summit, all of these have great schools. A little bit cheaper and also nice (I also have family living there) are parts of North Plainfield, Dunellen, and Greenbrook. Oh, and Metuchen is very nice too.
Thanks for your reply,
The only reason we picked parlin is we found a nice town house but the other areas you mentioned i think we will look at.
thanks
paul
Parlin (Sayreville) is just fine, as is Middlesex County. Are you looking at Camelot? If so, the townhouses are very nice, and you'd be in a fine area. It is a solid, working class town without the snobbery you'd find in a lot of places.
