Hello my veggie friends. I am just planning a trip to New Jersey very soon. Just wondering what are some of your favorite vegetarian restaurants and what are your favorite dishes there? I did some search on internet, but can't find a genuine vegetarian restaurant.
Did you try looking at www.happycow.com? They have a list of restaurants and health food stores for all over the world. You can look up for USA, then NJ and find the town near where you will be and hopefully there will be a vegetarian restaurant. It may not be a vegetarian restaurant per say, but vegetarian friendly.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions..
yes, again, what part of NJ ?
Here are some picks in Essex County, Hudson county, and Manhattan:
The Indian restaurants on Newark avenue in Jersey City are either completely vegetarian, or consist mostly of veg food. My favourites are Rasoi (not pure veg), Dosa Hut (low key takeout place which is completely veg), Sapthageri: good south indian stuff (recommend the spring dosas), completely vegWelcome to " Sapthagiri Indian Restaurant: Taste of India "
Thanks for the link, Elflord. I was curious about Indian cuisine and too embarassed just to go into places being completely ignorant about the food. Very helpful. : )

Lunch buffet at Rasoi is self-serve, so you can wander in and take your pick without fear of exposing your ignorance.
If you're ordering dinner at Sapthageri, you can't go wrong with either North or South Indian thali (pronounced Tah-Lee) -- this is basically several different dishes served in small stainless steel containers (it has a bit of everything)
Likewise, if you want to grab a quick take out from Dosa hut, either grab a Thali.
The dosas (they have these at dosa hut and Sapthageri) are also quite good, but they don't travel well, so wouldn't recommend them for take out. Good starting points are spring dosa and the masala dosa.
Generally, the staff at these places are pretty helpful, very customer service oriented and eager to introduce newcomers to their offerings, so they'll be nice if you have questions.
I'm vegetarian and when I want to eat out somewhere I think of Indian food, there are plenty in the edison area, there are a few pure vegetarian ones there. Udipi is a south indian one UDIPI HOME (http://www.udipicafe.com/home.htm - broken link) i like. Don't feel dumb trying new food, ask the waitor what they have that's good and always say mild.
