hey guys, i am planning to move to port imperial (right next to ferry station) there. is anyone familiar with that area? i work in 57 and lex. i could take the ferry and take the bus but since 57 and lex is far from 39th street ferry in new york, i think my bus ride is going to be 30 mins so that kills the deal.. how are the buses going to port authority from there.. i think bus 158 goes there. how long u think it will take me to get to port authority from port imperial bus stop? njtransit.com lists at 18 mins in rush hour.. but i heard from people that it usually takes 45 minutes! is that right? does anyone have first hand experience? thank u soooo much
(also if u have experience in taking ferry and then taking the bus in nyc, can u tell me how long can i expect to get from ferry stop in nyc to 57 and lex? )

A few years ago I was in your position - commuting from the New Jersey suburbs to midtown, hating it, and looking for a more convenient place to live.

I found it in Weehawken and wrote details in post 10 of the thread below.

I've never done the commute you describe, but the commute is meaningfully quicker - more frequent buses plus shorter bus ride - if you live in the grubbier but improving section of Weehawken near Pleasant Avenue.

Before you decide to move to Port Imperial, why not test out the commute a few times?

A bus ride to the PABT from Port Imperial takes about 10-15 minutes. I take the 128, 165, or 166 every day from North Bergen and it takes about a half hour. I would say your total trip should be about 45 minutes.
