Wow people are so touchy about this NY vs NJ thing...
The NY Giants play in a NYC suburb that just happens to be in NJ... get over it people. There is no reason to change the name of a storied franchise from NY to NJ just because they play in the meadowlands. As others have already mentioned there are a few teams playing outside of their city and claiming to be in it (Redskins, Cowboys)
A roof would have been nice for obvious reasons mentioned already (Superbowl, NCAA, other indoor events). I'm kind of glad there is no roof. I go to every Giants game and elements are part of the game. The tradition of football is directly tied with weather conditions (Ice Bowl for example)... Indoor football is like selling out to the times... and going with the latest dumbed down trend that is the NFL today. The game has changed DRAMATICALLY in the past 10 years or so with fantasy football emerging, blockbuster contracts, new stadiums, thurs night games, double headers on monday night to open the season, always opening the season on a thursday night, games played in London... Sure all can be viewed as better in some ways but it's "selling out" in many ways.
Now they want to start a franchise in London? Or maybe two?.... you see the trend...
Bottom Line: Football is meant to be played outdoors in the elements, not indoors with fan noise pumped into the speakers to create a "homefield advantage".... A real homefield advantage is going to lambeau in sub zero weather and watching Favre throw a pick 6 to send the Giants to Superbowl 42.... okay maybe not such an advantage for the packers but you get my drift... heh
