Actually the site is somewhat off when it comes to salaries. I'm a teacher (please don't kill me). It lists my salary as $74,698. I just had a bump in the salary guide because I recently completed a graduate course...more credits = more money. I actually make $83,998. I've been teaching for 11 years and have my masters plus 15 credits.
You make what????!!!?? OMG! I always thought teachers were poor! I may just change careers, seriously.
My sister has been a teacher for the same number of years as you and she is paying for dinner next time we go out.
Hahaha. I know. It's actually to our benefit that people believe the fallacy that teachers are underpaid. I honestly make more money than most of my friends, but they think just the opposite.
holy cow, thx for the link... i just checked the salary of a few of my family members working for the state and am totally shocked at how much they make... :P

No joke! My MIL is a teacher and I'm shocked at how much she makes! And teachers get the summer off too! Ok, granted they do have to work about 9-10 hours a day if you factor in grading and preparing for class but they get summer off!
The only people not taking cuts in this economic climate are the pigs feeding at the government trough. Why the hell do you think taxes are so high here?, The people riding in the canoe have a better deal than the ones paddling.

That sounds like more of an exception than the rule. I know two people (in different suburban north Jersey school districts) that have both been teaching for 10 years with a masters and they make less than 50k. I know someone else that has been teaching for almost 20 years and makes less than 70k.
