We are relocating from Massachusetts ( north of Boston) to NJ due to husbands job change. We have 2 children ages 4 & 7 are good public school are a necessity. We also would like some space and our price range is around 500-600. My husband will be working in Florham Park. We have thought of Warren and Bedminster but would consider others as well. Any input or suggestions are welcome.
It all depends on what you are looking for. Personally I like the Bedminster/Basking Ridge area a lot better. It is a lot quieter, nicer homes, and overall a nicer community. Also you have Far Hills and Mendham very close by and a great town center that gives you that great small town feel.
Warren/Watchung is nice as well but overall I do not get that quiet small town feeling from them. They do not exactly have a town center, just a few places that line the main street and their supermarket area.
As for pricing, I think in either area, you are going to have a hard time finding a very nice single family home because sadly, $500,000 is about the entry price into those communities since they are very desirable. It is not going to be impossible, but you do have your work cut out for yourself.
You may want to consider other communities as well (f.e. Mendham, Chester, Bernardsville, Bernards Twp.). There is not much in Far Hills in your price range.
Long Valley. Close to Rt. 78, Rts 24 and Rt. 80. Somewhat rural, great school system and more house for the $. Down next to Tewksbury and Chester.
