why is it crazy?? you moved into their habitat, it's only been the suburbs for a few years
My statement is just conversational and fun. I had a feeling the statement you made about habitat would come up. I am very protective of the environment and there were houses there before I came along, so you need take that argument up with the proper channels.
And as for the suburbs, in the fifty years or so that the neighborhods were there, it's crazy in the scheme of the everyday mundane that a coyote shows up on the porch. YMMV.
Just this week in Livingston, someone found a coyote eating a cat on his driveway. It was in the local Livingston paper this week (The West Essex Tribune).
We had a black bear walk through town earlier this year too.
WOW Thanx for the tip I just read it and it's a little nerving know that at any given moment I could come across one or more being as they run in packs I guess I should start carrying a bat or something lol. thank you for that tip.

you can be fairly certain that you have little to fear from a coyote, they want as little to do with you as you do with them
So far Ive been lucky-I see them everyday-usually in groups of at least 4 or 5. Almost all the time their passing thru the woods and crossing the street up by south orange ave. Its scary- they dont seem intimated by me at all. Yikes!!
These attacks are still rare. Coyotes are usually shy and stay away from people; unless they are going through your garbage.
