Any of you former Texans miss HEB in NM?
I think when we leave Texas permanately, that will be one of the main things I'll miss about Texas is a good place to shop for groceries.
Anyone else feel this way?

YES. Very badly.....*snif*

There isn't one in EP, since Midland-Odessa is as far west as they have gone.

I guess I'll have to stop by on my way home Christmas and pick up some stuff.....

If they expand to EP at some point, problem solved, since I am going to everything else there....PetSmart, Sam's Club, and a couple of others I can't think of right now.

You don't get any better than HEB...and especially Austin's Central Market!!!

I love HEB. They carry Bueno red and green chile in the frozen food section. A little more expensive, but saves me a long trip to NM to stock up.

It is nice to have that, especially the red. It makes wonderful chili (as in bowl of red) and enchilada sauce.

Here, Walmart carries the Bueno Foods.

Oh geez, they don't have a HEB in El Paso?

NM needs a grocery store. I think I'll write the HEB people. Looks like we'll have to stock up on groceries before we move.

No, dammit. NM or El Paso do indeed need an HEB, and the nearest one to us is in Odessa.....about 275 miles....*sigh*

They were enlarging the one in Midland when I was in the process of moving. I bet it is just great when they get it finished. I really did like it.....

That's a good idea...I just sent them an email from their webpage.....

I've written them as well. I would love to have a Central Market in ABQ.

Looks like it's not going to happen anytime soon.
Cathy sent me a pm on HEB's response to putting a store in NM and ElPaso.
Is Walmart the only choice? They don't have a very big selection.

Walmart and Lowe's are the only choices in Alamogordo, other than small mini-marts and such.

Don't get me wrong....we are lucky to have both, so I am not complaining...too much, LOL!! I am glad to have what there is...but...

HEB is just a spoiler, plain and simple. But I cannot see them anywhere in NM other than Santa Fe and ABQ. The chances of a distribution center near El Paso does not look too promising at this point.

One thing that I am having to adjust to....and this is not meant as a putdown at all...New Mexico just does not have the infrastructure to which we are accustomed in Texas.

So, we make adjustments. Having said that, I love New Mexico...and it does have so much to offer...and I am getting my routine worked out. The people in Alamogordo have been so friendly and nice so far.

I do not mind driving to El Paso or Las Cruces once a month or so. It's just a matter of finding what you need. I haven't been to LC in over 10 years, so it will take some digging to find what I want, but I am sure it is all there.
