This is one of the better articles I've read lately that gives a brief overview of the history of the still small town of Carrizozo, the county seat of Lincoln County since 1913.

Good stuff, Joqua. I have only passed through and bought gas at the crossroads 15 or more years ago. Good to know the future has brightened for this old community.

From about 2000 until the economy bubble burst in 2008, it looked as if the town was undergoing a renaissance. Sadly, the ambitious plans for development dried up and remain today in a drought. There are a few diehards who retain their hopefulness. Others who were instrumental in driving the renaissance have since sold out and moved on.
