Just wondering if it is common for people to rent homes/apartments/casitas for perhaps 4 summer months in Santa Fe to Taos area. How much do people usually pay for such rentals? Any references?

Thanks

I'll bet they do. I'll also bet they are pricy in the summer and a lot morso in the winter.

A little too common in the Santa Fe area because of the big art shows, opera, etc. Prices are very high -- population of Santa Fe doubles and opera goers got money. Do a yellow pages or google search -- several rental agencies do this sort of thing.

Personally, I think the weather is much better the rest of the year. Santa Fe has done a great job convincing the tourists to come here when the weather is the worst.

Yes, anywhere in Taos or Santa Fe is going to be pricey in the summer. I just booked the cheapest B&B I could find up in Taos and it is still costing us around $100 a night for late May. You MAY be able to arrange a house-sitting, pet-sitting, or sharing deal through craigslist. I've seen several people looking for temp. roommates, house sitters, or people who just have a casista for rent in their backyard. You may be able to strike a deal if you are staying for a longer length of time:

santa fe / taos rooms & shares classifieds - craigslist

santa fe / taos sublets & temporary classifieds - craigslist

Someone on here had a link to a hostel that was around $25-$30 a night.

You might find a little cheaper in between. Probably not Espanola or immediate small towns, but Pojoaque Valley (Nambe, Pojoaque, Jacona, Jaconita, El Rancho) or further north Embudo/Dixon.
