It wasn't open for the public but a private gathering for invatation only with mainly Vets there as that's what i heard about it.

My family and I were quite disappointed that we just missed seeing the Senator at Veteran's Park. We felt very honored that Sen. Obama chose to spend Memorial Day in Las Cruces, of all places. It was also very nice to see the Gov. spending some time 'down south'.

I'm not so sure. In all seriousness, Monday was a beautiful day outside, just about everyone I knew around town was either barbecuing, spending time with families, swimming, etc. I just don't think people would pre-empt their holiday plans to listen to what he had to say.
