The mountains of southern New Mexico are calling me. I just wish they would speak louder!!!
Yes.....no doubt. It was hot as hell and steamy to boot (I don't envy those with swamp coolers here right now) in Alamo.....Timberon wasn't exactly cool, but it was a vast improvement over Alamo!
I left the bunch at 6:00, and got to the city limits at 7:30...just in time for blowing dust, dark clouds...and now it's pouring rain outside....it started big time just as I closed the garage door behind me.
I would NOT have wanted to have been on those mountain roads in this!
I think I was the only "foreigner" up there, one who didn't have a place/potential place in Timberon! It was fun to put some faces to these internet names! It was a blast, and it was great of Jane and Kent to have all of us....thanks, guys!
Hope you're feeling better now, JDTH.....

It's cool here this evening JDTH and you would love it now.
The picnic for us CDer's turned out great.
I would say there was around 20 of us including spouses and kids. We had a great time and I believe Egglady will be posting a picture of us all.
I told ya you would be alright getting out of here Cathy. It's really cool here now.
My sense of direction is bad enough here, but it completely disappears in Timberon. I went the wrong way going out...and there was Timber, LOL!!
The road was wet most of the way, so I didn't make as good a time coming back, but I'm glad I got here before this hard rain hit...it is absolutely pouring out there right now.
We should have led you out cuz it's not easy to get out of Timberon unless the directions are specific and Timber is a muddy mess now.
I didn't have any trouble once I turned around and went the other way. I have no doubt that it's not so great up there now....it's just a gullywasher in Alamo right now.
I think it is the tree cover--the trees lining the side of the road...closed-in feel...that throws people. Jane even reminded me as I went out the door, and I still screwed up, LOL!!
But had I left 20 min later, I would have been driving on 82 in this driving rain! I timed it just right!
Glad you made it home OK. We just sat around and talked for a few more hours.
So everyone can plan on next year - for the 3rd annual get together...Same week-end.
Everyone is there except Egglady, she took the picture..
We had a great time.
