There is another road right before you get to Mountain Park, A62, Karr Canyon Road.....that eventually runs into 6563. It looks like it would cut around 10 miles off (but you know how that goes, might be lousy timewise) the route. Anybody know anything about it?
Cathy, don't even think of that road... light duty, dirt road. Take the main roads and you will be much happier.

Not sure exactly on the mileage but Timberon is about an hour and a half from Alamogordo, 45 minutes from Cloudcroft and 2 hours to Ruidoso.
Mile wise, not that far but it takes a while to get down the mountain becasue of the curvy roads and speed limit of 30mph.
There are some condos in Timberon people stay at and there are places for you to park your truck and camp. Lots of hiking trails but the forest is closed now. Hopefully it will reopen in a few days.
I haven't seen any lakes and I don't know anything about Roswell. Hope this helps.

Keith has played guitar for about 45 years now. It's tough for him with his arthritis, but he wants to be where the music - and jam sessions - are.

Guys, when we get down there, you're welcome to jam! I also have a bass, but I'm not that great, and my shoulder's been giving me a tad bit of trouble, so I haven't played in a while.

Jam sessions? OMG. I MISS those. My family had jam sessions when I was in the cradle.....diapers.....grade school....then I joined in when I was about 12 or so.

What kind of music?

Well, he used to be on the road playing CCR.... Southern Gospel, bluegrass, country, jazz... just about everything - 50's-60's rock.... You're most certainly invited, Cathy! We can sit back and feed the guys, so they'll keep playing.... we'll rock out the neighborhood... maybe make it a block party! LOL!!
