they dont wanna go back home, NM will be the easiest transition, they will still be close to home (Mexico) and its cheaper to live here than in CA.

What does everyone think?

NM does not have the jobs that AZ and TX do.

So, I don't think so.

true, but working at McDonalds is more appealing than going back home to Mexico.

In my opinion, until the federal govt. does something about illegal immigration, all the border states ie CA,AZ,NM,TX will be subject to ongoing problems. Over the long haul, the situation will not be good for those living close to the border. There may be enclaves that seem OK, but i wouldn't want to be out in the rural areas after dark. Or am i wrong?

We're suffering the effects of "The Reconquest" as described by a UNM professor..

Mexico has never truly given up on the dream of reacquiring what it lost in the
1846 war; Mexican–American War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ,
literally half its geographical territory.

Deride that dream all you want, but to much of the Mexican populace, that loss
is still a distinct grudge (although not their primary day-to-day concern), and
Hispanicizing (is that a word?) the Provincias Perdidas (Lost Provinces)
through population growth and immigration is viewed very favorably by the
Mexican government although it can never openly admit it.

If you can't out-gun 'em, out breed 'em.. it's a strategy that over generations
may just succeed as no country's boundaries last forever..

Let me be clear; I am not advocating this (what rational Anglo would looking
at the daily news from Juarez), but I am saying that this is not a blip; it is a
long-term cultural shift that is looked on very favorably by Mexico and is one
reason why there never has been any serious effort by Mexico to stem the tide...

It's not in Mexico's best interests to prevent the influx of Hispanic migrants..

No, because the money they send home every year represents the second or third largest source of income for Mexico. The US has served as a safety valve for Mexico for years on end.

How is it not in Mexico's best interest?

Can you also explain the paragraph that I put in italics? I would like to know more.

As I read your response, ALL the paragraphs are in italics. Maybe it's just my PC..

A huge Spanish-speaking or Spanish heritage population dominating the demographics
of Arizona, New Mexico, California Nevada and Texas, (maybe not Utah)..

Surely you can work that out for yourself..
