HI - My husband and I are thinking about visiting New Orleans in early May. What can I expect, weather wise? I don't mind really warm weather (80's) but I have a very hard time dealing with humidity. What is the humidity like in early May?

We moved here last April, and I didn't think it was really that humid until late June, but I grew up in Atlanta, so I'm used to the steamy fires of hell ;-)

I'm a West Coast gal and I have a really hard time with humidity. If the weather is going to be, say, in the 80's, I need the humidoty to be down around 50-60%.

Yeah, you're screwed I've found that the breezes coming from the river are really nice and help to mitigate the heat somewhat. I doubt you'll "suffer" in early May, but it will be more humid than you're used to.

Eh, early May is doable, but you're pushing the threshold between hot and miserable. You're probably looking at temps in the high 80's with moderate humidity. Expect a chance of thunderstorms every day.

Yet, there are plenty of tourists here in the middle of July and August! It all depends on personal preference and what you're used to. There are lots of people in the world who live in hotter, more humid places.

Do your "outside" sightseeing in the mornings and evenings, and visit museums and/or take a nap in your room in the middle of the day ;-)

Early May can either be sunny and pleasant with low humidity or warm and humid with high humidity, it just depends. Occasionally you'll get low 90's sunny hot and humid and sometimes on the flip side even low 70's cool cloudy and humid but generally 80's is common that time of year.

Remember that Jazz Fest is in early May so book your tickets now. I highly recommend Jazz Fest.
