In contrast, the intersection of St. Charles and Louisiana looks beautiful, but there is a lot more crime. Looks can be deceiving.
Oh, none taken. I was actually responding to the OP's post that it looked a little run down in the pictures. As several of us have stated on here lately, a lot of the Google Maps pictures are several years old.

I lived in New Orleans most of my life and there are a lot of places that I would live, but would not recommend to others. Throw out 3rd and Carondelet and Liberty at Napoleon. The others should be fine, just use your street smarts always. I parked my car in the Iberville Projects 5 days a week for four months when I worked in the French Quarter, walking back in the middle of the night I was never messed with. I was robbed and assaulted steps from my house in a nice Uptown neighborhood with private security patrols. Just use common sense and don't give people moments of opportunity.
I have to disagree on 3rd & Carondelet. I lived in the condos right there at the corner, parked on the street every night, and had no problems. I just wouldn't go north of there past Baronne.

I'd feel better putting a newcomer in a place which has buffer zones of several blocks in every direction.
