mmm...I'd have to disagree. Plenty of people ask where my southern accent is when I start talking. But yeah, the word is slowly getting out that we talk differently.

Mmm I guess I've been around people who have been around Katrina transplants. Alot of them think I'm from New Orleans.

A lot of people think I'm a transplant because I don't have that 'Yat' accent. My parents never had it either.

Its dying out in the city and is really more of a suburban Metairie/St. Bernard Parish thing. You would be hard pressed to find someone in the city under 40 speaking like that.

I've heard quite a few. Not overwhelming though.

The two big ones that the OP didn't mention in her original post that I can think of are:

1. The city is a big swamp.

2. Murderers are everywhere.

It's just ridiculous!

The OP is a him, mon frer. Good input though. The city is a big swamp where we wrestle gators for dinner, drive airboats to Bourbon Street, and we all speak like the Cajun guy from "the Waterboy"...

From the way people talk, even the play-by-play guy on Monday Night Football, that's what you would think!

Sorry about that, OP!
