Shoshanarose, read through the other threads for affordable housing. A log number of 900 sounds high, but that assumes that the 899 applicants before him fit the criteria. There are many people who submit an application who definitely do not fit the criteria (ex, not falling into any of the income brackets by a long shot, ineligible household size) but apply anyway. Anyone is allowed to apply and it costs nothing, so there appears to be a bit of a "why not?" mentality when it comes to applying. I have a feeling some of the applicants don't even bother to open the one-page outline of the development to make sure they qualify. It's a waste of precious resources on an already strained department to have to process these applications, but that's a different conversation...

Apart from the good log number, the CB preference will help your friend in being considered. He has a better shot than others who have applied. But, he may not be called at all. And if he is called to submit paperwork, he'll still need to meet the many qualifications that are required of anyone who might get one of these apartments (good credit, etc). Again, I think you'll find it helpful to read the other threads to get a better understanding of the process.

I've noticed that most lotteries, it's more closer to 1-2 months after the last date applications are accepted. I think on the Housing Connect website, it says about 2 months, but for many of the lotteries I've applied to, it's less than 2 months.

It takes about a week or two after the lottery closes.

I passed by the building this morning. Doesn't look like residents will be able to move in until much later in the year. But who knows

Indeed, I hope we get low log numbers. I mean, a middle income person's opportunity is low as it is with these housing developments!
