[quote=QUNYC;47481993]forgot to mention, my first con ed bill came, and from 2/18-3/1 my bill was 25$, so there is no way I'm paying for heat since if the heat was electric thats way too low of an amount, and gas is already included with the apartment[/QUOTE
I don't understand why my bill was so high from 2/20-3/7..over $80.
Elevators on west side were down last night....only one is up today.
The stairs don't have reentry...luckily the super was around and he opened one the stairs and I was able to get upstairs
I think the idea that stairs don't have reentry kind of sucks what if the elevator breaks down again and no one is around to me upstairs!!!..
There is no way that this should continue! Elevators break down and if it happens at night when there's no super around then how is a tenant expected to get back to their floor if the stairway doors are locked? Worse yet what if it happens early in the morning when any tenant is going to work and that person forgets something important? That tenant will now be late to work because of this absurd rule waiting for someone to let them back to their floor! I understand & appreciate that there's a lot of attention to security in this building with cameras both outside & inside at every corner of building exterior, hallways, lobby and basement but preventing reentry to your floor via the stairwell without any alternative should the elevators stop working is way over the top.
Also, in rules from langsam it says not to drill any holes on the walls to use your own discretion when making a hole... So question has anyone put up wall decor?? I know you don't have to drill a hole to get that on the wall but like it kind of contradicts because you have make a hole with a nail to hang these things..
I had the same exact confusion when I read the rules later that day. That contradiction just makes no sense. It almost seems like the building rules were just slapped together quickly.
BTW, has anyone received a copy of their lease yet?
@plbplb They didn't mention where just that it'll be located in the cellar, which is an odd place to have a gym. I'm hoping one of the commercial spaces will end up being a gym.

Exactly!! Very contradicting!!
Going back to the stairs for a sec... We should as tenants have key of some sort in case the door entry device thingy ever stops working that we can use the open main door and then we can access the stairs. Oh and how is it that the locks in the bathroom and in the bedrooms have some type of key required to unlock them and we don't have a key in case we get locked out?
I got my lease this weekend...it was also signed by the super so I am assuming they are getting him to sign it in batches and then they send it to the tenant.

I wish the commercial space would be an option but I don't see that happening. I'm certain those spaces are being counted on by the owner to bring in extra revenue which is something I'm sure was calculated into their decision when purchasing this existing development from the previous owner. Since the gym is supposed to be free to the tenants then whatever commercial space set aside for the gym would be lost revenue. Also some of my friends who live in the Manhattan have the residential gyms located in the basement so this is not unusual. If anything according to Steinway Estate's Schedule A filings, the proposed space usage for the commercial spaces on the ground floor are for medical offices & retail spaces so the tenant's gym was never in the cards unless it's by someone else opening a commercial gym in the same space which may or may not be free for us.
By the way has anyone seen the proposed gym space in the basement? I'm wondering if it's going to be a small room hence just a few things or a bigger space allowing for more equipment - trying to decide whether I should sign up for a local gym in the area or wait for this one?
