Had my interview today. The crazy thing is that they just started interviewing people a few days ago but all 25 two bedroom and 2 three bedroom apartments are already gone. They have been designated for homeless referrals. Why even apply for these lotteries if your chance of getting a 2-3 bedroom is doomed from the start? they are all going to be given to shelter referrals anyways. Oh and I found out homeless referrals also have special exemptions from income and other rules as well -_- I don't know about you, but this enraged me, we have to do something to put a stop to this.....it's not fair to all the other applicants.

so they told you that you were only eligible for a 1 bedroom?
Yes but my household size is 3. This means one of us is going to have to live elsewhere since they only allow 2 people for a 1 bedroom
First, that is ridiculous. Second, why did they even call you in for an interview? You can't change your household size after the application except for death, divorce, etc.
So you were rejected on the spot? Because that would be the thing to do, since you wouldn't qualify for one bedrooms? What in the f$&%#@k!!!! Is this even legal?
This is unbelievable. Don't get why you were called in the first place if there are no more units available. The way I see this, is that these programs will only be for the homeless. I'm not against housing for the homeless, but what happens to the people who apply and have preferences and their log number gets chosen?
So all the two bedrooms went to the homeless?
Anyway. We can all write to HPD. I think the information is within this thread. I will help with anything I can. Let me know what you'd like to do. I agree this is completely unfair.
