Thank you for SCRIE info...I had thought all tenants had access to it. Management had once said that about a dozen co-operators were on SCRIE (out of 660.) We are not on SCRIE not are we eligible for it without a very large hike in our Maintenance..

Ultimately, what a sale would mean for us is a move out of the City. I could probably cope but it would devastate my partner. I don't think EITHER of us is up for mowing a lawn every week...life is too short for that but I could manage a nice vegetable garden for sure.
Older straight people as well cannot upsize. People have children young, so post retirement upsizing is not an option period,

Yeah, the only way to upsize would be if somebody additional were to move in, which wouldn't be upsizing at that point.

Southbridge threw that upsizing rule out the window in an effort to get more people to vote for privatization. Any two people could put in for a 2 bedroom apartment and I was on the list, hoping the movement would lose.

Do you know what is happening at East Midtown Plaza?

I read in a post on here that they were trying to re-start the privatization process.

Yes, I heard that too. Do you know anyone living there who knows the overall climate?

To give others on the list the same opportunity you had. If you believed this it wouldn't matter how others were voting that is why I said it. However, it seems that it is not really an option for people now with the potential of such a windfall. Sorry that it has to be at the expense of people who are waiting on the list in good faith. I understand the allure.

Exactly. Somebody handed you a ladder and you pull it up after you. Very selfish. People who vote yes. Are selfish people only concerned with their own self-gain. They don't care if the next generation is afforded the same opportunities they were offered or not. They only care about themselves. It's funny because the older generations always think there's something wrong with millenials, but can you blame them when the older generations screw everything up for them?

It's shocking to me that it's even possible for Mitchell Lama coops to privatize.

Once affordable housing should remain always affordable housing!
