I was in the waitlist for over 3 yrs for affordable housing.
Recently, I went for an interview again for the same apartment. A few days later, I was told that I was disqualified because I was $100ish over the income limit...

I used Waze carpool for a few months when they had promotion after they just launched the service. In the beginning, we had 3 referral bonus, $60 totally. I also drove my spouse sometimes. So I got $5 credit, my spouse only needs to "pay" $0-$2. The Housing connect count that as recurring income. So they calculated that our estimated income from Waze gonna is almost $300. We told them the $60 are 3 referral bonus, not recurring income... They need me to prove it. I contact Waze, they said I had 3 referrals. My spouse deleted the Waze carpool account since Waze ended the promotion. I stopped using the Waze carpool too. But how do prove them or convincing them that they shouldn't count the waze carpool as my income? I really need some help.....

It sounds like your problem is legitimate, so talk to your City Council rep. Sometimes these guys just won't see reason without external pressure.

Since Waze cannot help you, I don't think there is any other alternative. The problem is that you had already explained your situation to the housing people and it seems they needed documentation from Waze. Writing to the Council Rep will take time for that person to respond. By that time, housing units will be filled dup.

Call your City Council rep's office. He or she should have a community liaison, whose job it is to handle matters like this for constituents. Good luck!

I only talked to the housing agent, he suggested me to prove it. But Waze doesn't have a phone number to call in. only commute with email, and take days to response.... I think I might lose this apartment this time....

thank you for suggestions. I definitely will google the city council district contact info. Do you know how fast the city council responds to this kind of situation? Should I contact the district that I am currently living in or the district that the affordable housing locates?

You should contact the City Council rep for the district you live in now.

You should also look around for other ways to contact customer reps for Waze.

My first question is how are they confirming your income ? If they are using tax returns you can earn up to $400 of self employment income without reporting it. Source

https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc554

"You usually must pay self-employment tax if you had net earnings from self-employment of $400 or more."

If they are using something like bank statements and questioning deposits that's a little different. I would look at their rules for determining income and perhaps argue something in there. They must have a uniform way to determine income and its written down somewhere.

You need to make sure you formally appeal the disqualification. You only have a few days to do that.
