Congrats on your new place, Bosco!Hope you're enjoying settling in.
Wow! That's a long wait for storage but it's best to put your name on all the lists right away.

I am 10x on the active 1 br list and can't wait to move there. I work in the area and for many years have enjoyed lunch breaks with colleagues on the benches in between the buildings. The grounds are always maintained and there's such a lovely atmosphere there.I already feel like I live there. Maybe in 2024 it'll happen.

In the meantime, this forum has been invaluable and I can't imagine not having this information to be prepared.
We are such a lucky bunch.

In my walks through the Penn South campus, I have noticed that those who choose to have auxiliary air conditioners in their windows have rather small ones. Is this because the current electric system can only handle a certain amount of btu's? Or is it just a Penn South stipulation that a/c units can only be a certain (small) size?

Hey Pethian, great observation!

You're right - the current HVAC system in Penn South uses quite a lot of electricity so in order not to put a strain on the electrical system, any additional a/c units shouldn't use more than 5 amps of electricity (5,000 BTU range).

If I remember correctly, only one a/c unit is permitted per studio or 1-bedroom.

2-3 bedrooms may have 2 or 3 a/c units depending on the circuitry of the apartment.

Before buying/putting a new a/c in, you'll have to contact the maintenance department first for approval.

Hope this helps, thanks!

Thank you, Bosco_! Yes, that certainly answers my question, and it makes perfect sense.

That’s something only the Penn South management office can tell you. I know a couple of years ago someone figured out that about 70 one-bedrooms became available per year. I don’t know what the number for studios would be, but I would guess far fewer.

I believe there is almost 1400 1 bedrooms. So 4 times as many.

Well, Holy CowCulus Batman! The 1 bedroom list has moved 15 spots this week, with no additional ‘on holds’, and last month it moved 20 (though a few of those were caused by ‘on hold’s) after a couple months of eerie stillness. I may have made a mistake signing a two year lease on my current UWS digs. Since 2019, the one bedroom list has moved at an a v e r a g e of 12 per month (I keep records). Anyone have news they’d like to share? Recent viewings, layouts, timelines, your recent experience you can share?
