I visited the grounds of Penn South this past Sunday. It was surprisingly quiet and nice. I talked to a lady walking her dog and she had nothing but good things to say about the complex and living there.

My application is on hold but according to the waitlist I am number 5 for a one bedroom. Does anyone know how long it might be once I take myself off hold?

I think it will be a week to a month from the info on previous threads but someone with more expertise will probably chime in on this.
Did your number keep moving up even though you were on hold?

Yes, I agree with roses1212 that you will be called quickly, with that low of a number.

And to roses: Yes, a person on hold keeps moving up the list, so you don't lose anything by going on hold.

You can only go on hold once—and for a limited, five-year span of time—so make this decision wisely!

Does anyone know what the difference is between a balcony and a terrace at Penn South? The apartment size descriptions on the website seem to differentiate between the two.

I think it's the size. There was a NYT article (pic below) about a guy who rented his terrace on airbnb a few years ago (the terrace was covered). But if you look at that pic - the terrace is as big as room. It has two couches, a table, a tv, etc. The balcony looks smaller in pics.

Yes, Brooklynkia is correct. The terraces are found on the top three floors and they span the entire width of the apartments. The ones on the 19th floor are bigger than huge, they are humongous. In this exterior view, you can see the terraces on the top three floors contrasted with the regular balconies below them.

Here’s the floor plan showing the terrace of a C line two-bedroom on the 19th floor. Current Penn South residents wait years on the internal list for one of these terraces because they’re so rare. And you do sacrifice square footage inside and sometimes closet space. And the apartments are more expensive, as you’d expect.

Brooklyn Kia and Macnyc2003, thank you both for your help! That one terrace does indeed look gigantic. A girl can dream lol.
