Wow fantastic number, good luck. I bet before the end of the year, we hear about your experience moving in.

Can anyone who's upgraded to a bigger apartment take us through the financial process? Say for example, I don't want to get a mortgage, and want to pay off everything in cash. If a bigger apartment is $110K, and you paid $100K in cash for your current apartment, would you only need to have $10K on hand? Or does Penn South require you to purchase the new apartment, and then they give you back the $100K once someone else purchases your old apartment? Or will you be allowed to just pay off the difference between the apartments? I know that we have shares and don't really "own" the apartments, but I figured this is an easier way of thinking about it.
Thanks for any insight!

Hi everyone. I am new here. I am in the low teens on the 2019 1-bedroom list. Do you think if I can be called to view available apartments this year? By the way, what is the last number for the 1 bed-room? I am able to see the last number for any sizes of bedrooms for Mitchell Lama Coop on https://a806-housingconnect.nyc.gov/...ml#ml-waitlist. However, I am not able to find Penn South. Does it mean Penn South is not a Mitchell Lama Coop?

Penn South is similar to a Mitchell Lama but is not in that program. PS has its own waiting list system.

You should have received log-in information from Penn South.

https://app.pennsouth.coop/login

You can sign in using the same log-in email and password you used to file your application.

Congrats on the great number! We have someone here in the low teens and someone else in the high teens!

I just looked at the list. If you are in the low teens, you should be around No. 136 among active applicants and No. 181 including those whose applications are on hold. Best of luck!

Thank you macnyc2003 for your supersonic reply. I did log in and found even though my number is in the low teens but there are still like 180+ people (active + inactive/on hold) before me. Do you know if there is any possibility that people on 2019 list will be called to view apartments this year?

With waiting lists in general, it's always a guessing game. Since we are living during a global pandemic, things are moving very slowly.

If you read through this thread, you will get hints of what is to come.

For instance, several current residents post here and relayed the info that there are 40 vacant apartments (of various sizes) ready to be filled. And another poster contributed that the apartments have been getting renovated during the shutdown.

I'm sure other posters can answer your question. But i remember from reading the old PS thread, some people were shocked to get a call to view apartments with numbers like 150 or so.

Don't ask me what happened to the folks further down on the list!

But hopefully you will find out fairly soon. In the meantime, have fun by looking at floor plans!

Good evening. I am currently a Penn South resident and have lived here over 12 years as someone's partner. Does anyone know if I would be able to get an apartment transfer for myself? Thank you.
