Thank you all and good luck with all the process Another detail I wanna add: keep reviewing your account when I was selected I didn’t receive the letter immediately it took almost a week and they give you only 7 days to contact the development and make the appointment.
I have been certified since 12/1/20 for Jackson houses in the Bronx, for me and my 1 year old son. still waiting. If I don’t hear anything by December I will be moving to Florida .
I don’t blame you girl. I think that’s reasonable. I feel the same way. It’s expensive in NYC. I feel like if I can’t get selected for Nycha or housing connect upstate or out of state I’m moving.
I just change my development list to another one after being on the certified waiting list for a 2bd in Grant houses since April 2015. I see everyone complain about waiting a few months here and there, but I had applied for NYCHA back in May 2012. Got called for an interview in January 2015 to see if I'm eligible for a 1 bd. At the time, my daughter was 5 years old and got certified. After she turned 6, I got another call from NYCHA saying that they bump me up to a waiting list for 2 bd. Now over 6 years later, still waiting to be called to see an apartment. I was on a W1 waiting list but then the average gross around that development changed, and they bump me down to W2. Fearing that will make me wait for more, I was told that the Working Family listing is different and it really goes by the average income gross of what families make around that area and since the area's income average got higher, that's why it changed. It doesn't affect my place on the list. But after constant checking and calling and dealing with rude management from the development, I just want to be placed on another development waiting list. Fortunately, I saw in my account that I was eligible to change to a different development. So now I am on the waiting list for a 2 bd in Baruch Houses. Maybe I did a mistake by changing it and get placed on the bottom of the list, or maybe finally, I get lucky to get called to see an apartment sooner, but my whole process in total has been in 9 years and counting, what else can I do but wait. I waited this far.
