Before I applied I e-mailed them. I wanted to know how IRA(s) are factored in. The answer wasn't satisfactory. Basically it said they don't count unless you are drawing from them. So I asked how does that work? What are the limits? The response was to just apply.
I think the income range for the 1 bedroom is very narrow. I'm in one of the preferred groups. So it's worth a shot but frankly I've been through the housing process several times and been turned down for reasons that if they would just have laid out the full story from the start I wouldn't have wasted my time. The process can be made very painful by these people.
Does anyone know which organization is running this lottery?
I hear ya. I got the same type of just apply response to my question. Frustrating.
Does everyone get a log number? I only received a log number once and that was when I was told to submit documents
Maybe this is being run differently but in my personal experience everyone gets a log number. They send you an e-mail. It's not like there's a huge cost to them. They have an automated process to do this and they have your contact info. So why wouldn't they send out log numbers for everyone. I've been in housing lotteries where my log number was 50,000+ but I still knew. When you get a long number for something like this and your number is that high you know that it's over for you but at least you know.
