This is sort of a success story. My lottery number was one for a building in Queens. I went through the process in July and August and was offered an apartment, but I turned it down for a variety of reasons.

I applied for an apartment over the summer. I got called in October, saw the apartment in November, moved in on 12/1/21. My log number was 3xx. I also got called for 2 other Listings during this same time, another in 3xx and 1xxx. I didn’t like them. Overall, I was called I believe for 5 units. this year. It felt good to have options. I am in the 130%. I like my unit. Having a in unit w/d is awesome.
I have 2 other units with low logs under 500 I need to withdraw fromlike (555 waverly, I forgot the other)
My advice is have your info together or know here to retrieve them quickly. Be prepared to give all your info like life insurance, pension and bank accounts. If your building is still undergoing construction or have a large about of units, you have to be more patient.
It takes about 5 days for hpd to process your info once they receive it. If you are municipal, it can take a few days longer. Hpd doesn’t hold your files long so if it’s taking a very long time, it’s not them.
I love reading success stories. Anyone have one to share that may be in the 50,60,70 AMI??? I feel like people in 130 AMI have better choices and more success
My friend has won two lotteries at those AMI.
One in queens about 10 years ago and another during COVID for waterline.
She was asked to submit docs in may and moved in by July with breaking ground.
Hpd took one day to approve. Her log was 1xxx for 2 bed 2 bath
Her story is in that thread for the building.

That's a great building, 2 bed 2 bath goes for 12k to 15k per month market rate.
I'm excited to share! I applied for 329 Broadway in January of 2021. I was contacted in April of 2021 to submit my documents. My log number was 4XX.
While waiting I was selected for other lotteries as well 26 Lawton Street log #2XX, 1 Union Square South, and a few in Flatbush that I didn't pursue.
After following up once or twice a week for 2 months I was finally contacted in June 2021 to view the apartment. It was dramatic because actually had to cut a vacation short to fly back to NYC last minute.
It all worked out because I actually selected my unit when viewing the apartments. It building was still very much under construction at the time. I locked in my unit and submitted the rest of the paper work for processing.
I was approved by the end of the week And moved in 8/1!
I just won (literally yesterday) my lottery apartment! I had been applying for six years on the old and new Housing Connect sites and also submitting to Mitchell Llama waitlists/etc. I got called to submit documents to 4 different buildings and was either found ineligible or put back on the waiting list for all of them.
I applied for the building I was approved for in August (it was actually a re-rental which I found on the HDC Website directly - not Housing Connect - but same agency), submitted documents in September, did an interview, viewed 2 units and told them which I preferred, and then had to spend about 2 more months sending more documents (I work a regular job and I'm also self-employed so income was a bit complicated).
They submitted my file to HDC for approval last Wednesday and it would have only taken 3 days - but HDC needed me to sign some more paperwork and so it ended up taking 4 business days. I move in later this month! I know how discouraging the process can be - but keep at it!! You deserve an affordable and safe place to live!
