Congrats Yulin! I'm happy for you. I know it wasn't easy waiting, but I'm glad it all worked out in the end. Enjoy your new home!!!

My HDC process for the apartment of this building is about 6 months, and I got the interview in the middle of the January, after waiting for about three months, I handed in all the papers and documents for this building, signing the leasing yesterday, and then I will move in at the middle of the July.I think this is the normal process time for the HUD housing and housing connect lottery.

However, I want to share the experience of applying another two buildings in Manhattan and Bronx. The two buildings are also built by the HPD/HUD for the affordable housing for the middle-income family tenants. I got two interviews, one for the Manhattan in March last year, and another for the Bronx in April last year, after the two interviews, waiting about 5 months, I also handed in all the documents and necessary papers for those two buildings. Then the HUD/HPD asked me to wait, unfortunately, I wait for more than one year, and handed in a lot of documents for many times, but I did not get the apartments in this two buildings even after more than one year of anxious waiting.

So I want to say that To obtain the apartment from the HUD or house lottery is really a random incident and you do not know you will get it or not. It dependents on the luck. if you are luck, you can get it. if not, you will feel defeat and anxious waiting and at last, get nothing.
