Where can we check if a building has CO yet?

Is it me but is everyone okay with the additional charge to the monthly rent? Especially the HOT water charge???

Tenants are responsible for electricity, including an electric stove, electric heat and hot water.

Sorry just saw this comment.
You can check CO here with the address (latest): https://a810-dobnow.nyc.gov/publish/Index.html#!/
and also the following website (old): https://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/bispi00.jsp

Well, sadly the landlord picked another applicant so now I'm back to this endless waiting game

I know it sucks but as I understand, the city is aiming to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 so that's why the newly constructed buildings are using electricity for everything instead of a gas stove, etc. I think that's why the tenant pays for everything including hot water. Let's take a shower once a week

HAHA life is SO funny. I just got a call from the agent that is supposed to be back on 10/19 from a holiday vacation. She asked me if I'm still interested in the unit and I said NOPE. I found a better apartment while she's gone and I'm going to sign a lease today. Good luck to everyone who's waiting to get called! My log was 10

Default No CO

The problem with this building is that it doesn’t have a CO (certificate of occupancy) and there’s no telling when it will get it. I wouldn’t want to wait around because there’s too much up in the air with this one.

I'm no longer pursuing this lottery and I feel you. I checked DOB after seeing your comment and it looks like they failed to get CO again...? Also, the agent of this lottery wasn't reliable Anyway, I found a way better deal than this lottery so let's move on if you feel this isn't the one for you. Good luck!

Does anyone know how long it typically takes for a finished building to get a CO?

Just a bit of wisdom...It was not a lottery unit, but I was in a brand new privately owned building. The very small one bedroom had its own utility closet with a brand new on demand high efficiency water heater. It also had a brand new heat/air con system in the ceiling (not your average through the outer wall of the building type) and a gas stove.
Even with all this: one person, tiny apartment and all new systems, my utility charges took my rent over the top. They may even charge you for the water itself, since you are already metered for the hot water heater costs. I'm sure this building won't have the very high end electronics my unit had.

My lottery unit rent is slightly less than the rent on the other place, but my overall rent is still much cheaper as I have heat, gas and water included for as long as I stay there.
I also had the same C/O issue. It was no for months, but once an inspector signs off, it becomes effective immediately so this can change at a moments notice. If they offer, do NOT move your stuff in to your unit for storage until you can live there. This makes it more difficult to back out if things change.
