Hi all, not sure if this is the right place to post but I could use some help. My partner’s parents are considered low-income and are having a hard time paying rent. Does anyone have any low-income housing resources they can share? Or perhaps a contact that could help guide us through this difficulty? Any help would be appreciated.

They can start here. This page contains a link to Housing Connect, which is handy if they qualify according to this chart:

Are they over age 62? Do they have any disabilities? If so, that would open up more avenues.

Thank you! Will look into it! Yes one parent is over 62.

That's good! All you need is one of them to be over 62. This opens up another set of options—not that it's easy:

New York Foundation for Senior Citizens

https://www.nyfsc.org/housing-servic...dable-housing/

Housing Options for Older Adults

https://portal.311.nyc.gov/article/?kanumber=KA-01069

Also, they should check Housing Connect periodically. Certain buildings are dedicated to 62 and older. Plus, if one or the other has a mobility problem or a speech, hearing or vision disability, most buildings set aside a number of apartments:

There's one lottery for seniors on Housing Connect that ends today. Apply for them. Even if you don't know all of their info - you can get the application in before deadline. https://housingconnect.nyc.gov/PublicWeb/details/4131

One off help for paying rent may be found, but demand for low income senior housing is like everyone else; demand far outstrips supply.

Here's a new lottery for a senior residence, which they would qualify for. And, depending on their income, rent can even be as low as zero dollars! Good luck!
