so i been selected to be on the waiting list for Masaryk Towers.
They are requesting a 200 dollar application fee, is this normal?
what kind of conditions are these apartment in?
Is the Masaryk Towers projects, or are they actual apartment buildings?
theyre not projects, they are not part of NYCHA. the list you are being put on is to buy, they are rentals and co-ops.
the 200 is standard on city owned HPD coops. i also put in an application, and have paid the 200.00
my daughter used to go to a babysitter there, they are nice big apacious apartments, some with terraces, some without. they are always cleaned. they are across the street from baruch projectsl, but they are ina good location. close to the F train and the bus stops right across the street. best part is a 2 bedroom coop is only $12,000 to buy
Hi, I received a letter informing me that my post card was selected in the lottery and my log number is in 800's. They asking for $200 at this time. I am disabled Army U.S. veteran and they are promising that I would have some preference. Does anyone knows how long would be the waiting time in my situation? Is tis letter actualy means that my name would be on the waiting list or there would be another lottery? Please respond
I have a number in the 2000's. The management office said it would be at least a 3 year wait.

I am number 2855 on the list. I have made some research before going there and check it out. Here is what I found in regards to these towers:
"Conley: I grew up in Masaryk Towers. When I was born we were living in that tower over there, #73 and then we moved to #81, the corner one back there. #81 borders on Hamilton Fish Park, which was a cement park filled with lots of broken glass, malt liquor bottles and the like. We would play our baseball there. Masaryk Towers is Mitchell-Lama. The Mitchell-Lama Housing Program is geared towards low-income families, but ones that were better off than the people across the street in NYCHA housing for extremely poor folks. Masaryk was sandwiched on the other side by more NYCHA housing. There are Mitchell-Lama projects all over the city, like Co-op City for example in the Bronx, which is pretty middle class now, I think. But by virtue of the fact that Masaryk Towers is sandwiched between NYCHA buildings, it shared much of the crime and other problems that were rampant in public housing in those days."
I am thinking towards not applying.
