Are there any buses that go directly from Astoria, Queens to the South Bronx? I need to get to 149th Street & 3rd Avenue and want to avoid traveling into Manhattan.

Thanks.

Take the BX4 to the 6 train to Parkchester, get on the Q44 to Jamaica, get off at Flushing take the 7 train. I believe that goes to Astoria. In Flushing there might be a bus that also goes to Astoria.
Personally, I think it would be faster to just take the 5 train to 59th and transfer to the N or Q trains to Astoria.

Eeesh, that's really complicated. I was hoping for a bus that goes over the Triboro Bridge.

I agree, I don't know if there is a bus that rides on the RK bridge . Stick with the train, it will take less than 45 min. I take the 6 from Elder to the E ending in Jamaica and at tops it takes me 70 mins. I will only take the bus on weekend nights because the E is local and adds 20 mins. to the trip.

I know that the M60 goes from Astoria and down 125th Street in East Harlem/Harlem but I don't know of anything directly from The BX to Queens. It would be nice

Sorry, but what's wrong with the subway?

N/R train to 59th Street switch to either of the, 4, 5, or 6, train. All going to the Bronx.

Nada, I just can't do subway steps right now. Knee surgery. Buses are easier

The quickest is taking the M60 to 125/Lex and take the 6 train or the Bx15 bus you have to go into manhattan for the quickest travel.....

The Q44 bus goes from Flushing to the Southern entrance to The Bronx Zoo@ 180th Street in The BX.It goes over the Whitestone Bridge and also stops in Parkchester before it goes to 180th St.
The route actually starts at Jamaica LIRR station and goes to Main Street,Flushing before getting on the Whitestone. It only takes about 25 or 30 minutes from Flushing to 180th Street. You could then transfer to another bus to 149th st.
It's a great bus route that nobody uses.I have used it to go to Kennedy Airport from the BX because you can get on the Airtrain at Jamaica.Much faster than going through Manhattan.
It might work for you somehow.
You could also take the M60 from Astoria to 125th Street and transfer to a bus going up into The Bronx. It does go over the Triboro to 125th St and then goes to Morningside Heights/Columbia U.

I visualized and heard someone with a strong New York accent saying that. I remember the old stereotype in movies where there would be a New Yorker with a strong New York accent saying a stream of subway directions as the person listening looked confused as hell. LOL

Good stuff, haha.
