Hey, i'm a techie with a few years experience and a degree. mostly help desk and hardware repair. are chances good to get a job quick in the city? What industries/areas are best for techies? Also if anybody knows a good way to get 1099s in ny.Most jobs I see require that I drive. I wanted to move to brooklyn, can i park there adequately or which neighborhoods around the city are ok for vehicle owners?

Help desk and hardware repair don't seem like there very in-demand to me here. It's hard to say, you'll have to start applying and see if you get much of a response (maybe on dice.com). I certainly don't see many companies using individual contractors for these sorts of things. It seems more common for companies to sign consulting contracts with IT consulting companies (there's tons of small IT consulting shops here).

The brooklyn car question has been discussed to death on here. Search for it.
