Is it possible to live in NYC on 500 month with out a car in a relative safe area. won't be buying a car. and just for reference, not that it really matters but i am caucasian, so any areas to avoid because of that? and yes i know there are idiots everywhere you go in life. but if your the only person of your kind in a area that is asking for trouble. and thanks for your help.

need to move to a place that is cheaper and has viable public transportation. also, my medical situation would be better in a colder climate. right now i only have SSI to live on till voc rehab takes affect.

And why would you think the most expensive city in the country is cheaper than Hawaii?
They are probably closer than you think. Hawaii even has a seperate poverty index from the mainland. NYC also has many more people compared to honolulu.
'till you see rent prices,gas,utilities, fed and state taxes, and toothless justice system. drugs are becoming a BIG problem here. and I am not talking weed either. We have a major meth problem here. Scenery is nice everything else..meh.
