Not bad,

But I think I can get from the UES to Far Rockaway in less than the listed 2 hours.

Interesting to use as a guideline, but I agree that it does seem to depict some places taking an unrealistically long transit time.

My commute was overstated by 20 minutes through this map!

Type in Flushing. You can easily take the Q44 and be in the Bronx in 20 minutes, this map says 2 hours.

If obviously on works for trains.

Not for my train! Maybe I just walk that much faster than average

I'd say pretty accurate... if we're talking about train. It takes exactly 15 from Woodside to get to SoHo by car!

I am continually amazed at the way people are getting lazier by the day. Suppose you decided to take a cab, because Triptrop said that the time to get from here to there was unacceptably long to you...and then the cab got stuck in some horrible traffic mess and it took you three hours to reach your destination.

What I'm saying is, who cares how long it's going to take? You get on the train, and don't worry about things like that. Just pay enough attention to where you are so that you don't miss any transfers you might need to make, or your stop. The subway charges a flat fare; it's not going to cost you any additional money however long the ride turns out to be.

Clearly it was accounting for Whitestone Bridge traffic. Once on the 44 during the middle of the day, took me 90 minutes to go from Main Street to the Bronx Zoo.

On the Q44 from Main Street & Queens Blvd to Bronx Zoo, it takes about 40 minutes with minimal traffic/lights. This map says 2 hours.
