I'd be astonished if the NYPD taught its' officers to place their finger on the trigger unless they were actually in the process of firing the weapon. No matter what the situation. It takes only a fraction of a second to bring the trigger finger from outside the trigger guard onto the trigger to fire a shot. This practice reduces the chance of an unintended discharge.

What's worse is the woman lost her husband to a shooting during a robbery as well. My heart goes out to her and those affected.
Should the perps suffer a murder charge though? I mean they technically didn't do it. Is their another type of charge that could explain them cause this chain of reaction?

This is from the NRA.
I think they know a little more about guns than you.
The NUMBER 2 MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF GUN SAFETY:

2--- ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger.

In the end it always comes down to money. No doubt the skells who pulled the heist haven't got a pot to **** in.

It only takes the same fraction of a second for a skell to to shoot & kill a cop. I'd rather a cop be on the right side of that bullet anyday.

The NYPD did not cause this guys death.

I'd rather be a cop that knew how to operate a firearm correctly.
