I'd be astonished if the NYPD taught its' officers to place their finger on the trigger unless they were actually in the process of firing the weapon. No matter what the situation. It takes only a fraction of a second to bring the trigger finger from outside the trigger guard onto the trigger to fire a shot. This practice reduces the chance of an unintended discharge.
In situations like this all can be considered suspects as there are multiple people involved. 2 Of the suspects tied them selves to a pole in the basement to blend in and play victims. And they all survived and an innocent man got shot. Tragic. The suspects are facing a murder charge and rightfully so. They lit the fuse on this situation and it ended in tragedy. What's worse is the woman lost her husband to a shooting during a robbery as well. My heart goes out to her and those affected.
Should the perps suffer a murder charge though? I mean they technically didn't do it. Is their another type of charge that could explain them cause this chain of reaction?
Only positive I see coming from this is that although the mother is suffering from the tremendous pain of losing both her husband and son only a year apart, she will receive a multi-million dollar wrongful death settlement from the city.
In the end it always comes down to money. No doubt the skells who pulled the heist haven't got a pot to **** in.

It only takes the same fraction of a second for a skell to to shoot & kill a cop. I'd rather a cop be on the right side of that bullet anyday.
It's used in EVERY gun course in the United States.
Law enforcement too.
E V E R Y single one.
