LMAO! If you ever watch 60 minutes, there's an episode where they were bulldozing houses down because they weren't worth anything, this way vagrants couldn't live in them and destroy the rest of the neighborhoods with houses that still were worth something. I would cringe if I were in that situation.

I heard some houses in Detroit are being sold for $1, maybe I should buy the whole city.

If I had a stable job locked down in Detroit then I would definitely live up there.

This house in Detroit is going for about $500,000:
1500 Seminole Street, Detroit MI - Trulia

If it was anywhere in NYC then it would EASILY surpass $2,000,000!!

Both cities have lost over half of their peak populations. Nobody wants to live in them, and only the poorest of the poor reside in them.

I wouldn't say "only" poor people live in them.

Detroit still has very rich areas like Grosse Point and Palmer Woods; as well as some middle class areas.

That's the whole point though. The Whites all ran to the suburbs and never looked back. Who could blame them?

Not "all".

There are still a decent amount of Whites in Detroit though obviously it has gone down a lot. The areas of Hamtrack and Grosse Point are basically within Detroit and are majority white. (BTW: Hamtrack has a poverty rate of 46%-which is almost double the Bronx's poverty rate)[/i].

"White" and "Black" are never capitalized ! Why do people do this ? Sometimes I see "Black people." Why ?

Sorry to be petty, I have seen it over and over and can never make sense of it.

I admit it is kind of interesting from the viewpoint of how people express conceptual characterizations of races.

It is also absolutely incorrect, however.
