Hey everyone, so I will be going to St Johns Episcopal in Far Rockaway for my medical school rotations and need help on a place to live. I am looking for somewhere that is safe, good for younger adults (I'm 24), and accessible to Manhattan by subway. I will have a car so I can drive, but would like to keep my daily commute within a reasonable time. I want to be relatively close to Manhattan since a lot of friends go out there, so getting to and from there at late hours is needed. I was thinking about some of the south neighborhoods of Brooklyn, but I honestly dont know much about NYC. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

PRoblem is that Far Rockaway is not really "near" anything. But if I were in your position, rather than Brooklyn, I'd look into living in somewhere like Forest Hills Queens, which should be about a half hour's drive to the Rockaways. FH is aslo a pleasant safe, neighborhood, wilth plenty of retail and commercial activity. It's not often thought of specifically as a young people's neighborhood, but there is a good range of ages living there, singles, families, and seniors. FH also has easy train access to Manhattan.
