Hmmm, shopping in Hell's Kitchen. Well, given that you will buy monthly MTA passes you might as well go up to Trader Joe's for groceries at 72nd and Broadway on the 1,2,3 trains. Also make sure you visit JACK'S on 32nd between 6th and Seventh regularly...you never can tell what you will get but it is always something at a terrific bargain. Up the same block is Café Arome with gargantuan sandwiched priced cheaply and good $.99 pizza.
Go before or after lunchtime because of lunch crowds.

For a nice cheap linner 'til 5 PM, try MEE NOODLE HOUSE...huge meal for $6-$7 bucks. It's 53rd and Ninth.
Jacks is the best "dollar" store ever!

Sorry but that is considered a rip off cult--- you wil l see--- as you say it is a long story but locals know
it for what it is. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I know everyone can't afford it or even get in but a real "Film school" is NYU Tisch Your place is just a commercial
venture to take advantage of people who want to be "Artists"

Well, if the person has the talent, they can make it anywhere.

Not true....MANY MANY MANY people have talent. Sadly its not about talent, skill, studying, its about meeting that one contact who can and will do something for you in your career so your name gets out there.

Yeah, you're right. I guess that's why networking is so important.

Yep, the biggest issue is rent. Beside that, you won't fin NYC is more expensive than any other (bigger) city in US. NYC is big, transportation can also be an issue, but you can't compare gas expenses in some small town and NYC where you have most of the city mileage.
