(AP) -- New York City will drop a challenge to a law making it easier to bring racial profiling cases against the police, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Wednesday, furthering his pledge to change the city's approach to policing.

De Blasio is wasting no time in keeping his campaign promises.

I guess to make things fair there should be more cops stationed outside the fancy prep schools on the Upper East Side when school gets out. Maybe they can move the cops from schools in Brownsville and East New York where they are currently stationed.

Fortunately, the one promise it looks like he can't keep is ending the horse and carriage business by Central Park. Instead of regulating the business and making sure the horses are well taken care of (and they are already well taken care of), he wants to destroy it. Looks like he can't convince the city council.

It's weird how eager Deblasio is to get sued so the city has less money to provide services

Earth to DeBozo - you ARE the NYPD

Of course people like you think it's about having the city get sued more often....and if that did come to pass that only means that cops are violating the law and should be sued and prosecuted. This bill allows some recourse to the many, many people who have been, and will be, violated, by those who are sworn to protect them.

Blakejones, you have a very sad view of the world... maybe you and rubygreta can get married and move to Alaska where you will be free of DeBlasio. Ideally somewhere with no internet access.

Typical leftist. Preaches tolerance, except for those who are conservative. Just classic.

Genius, who's in charge of policy at the NYPD? Obviously the commissioner but ultimately the buck stops at the Mayor's office. He sets department wide policy, so by definition improper conduct will be a violation perpetuated by an individual cop who should be reprimanded. Suing the entire city is only going to enrich one person at the expense of the city and have no effect whatsoever on preventing similar transgressions by the NYPD

The problem is that this is New York and the courts are nuts. Of course there are going to be nuisance lawsuits. The courts understand no differentiation between adverse impact and adverse treatment.
