They mentioned February postcards being mailed out which is right around the corner.
I don't think they'll have issues filling the low income units, as they will the middle income ones because 4K for a 3 bedroom, tenants are going to be making wild demands. 4K is not exactly friendly even if the household income is 230K.
The trouble with the low income ones will be getting applicants with good credit, zero jail time, and a wrap sheet of not selling narcotics on the street while coming home at night to beat his baby mommy.
Got log number under 4,000 I know it's not great but at least it's hopeful number, couple of questions for q41apartments and everybody else that went through process:
1. How long did it take after lottery until building started calling first applicants in your case?
2. How do they call applicants, post card and phone call or just one of those, something else maybe?
3. Is it worth calling to hear where they are in terms of log numbers after a while?
1. The building sent out postcards in January to the 1st wave of applicants, but the 1st person didn't move in till March. When they were called in January, they weren't allowed to see the apartments because they weren't completed yet. I think they saw computerized versions.
2. The initial contact is postcard and the rest is via phone. They only continue with mail if you are going to get declined a place.
3. You can call them periodically after submitting your documents for a status check. I was hounding them non stop after they did my credit check. Be advised the people doing the tenant selection are the worst. They're rude, sassy and unprofessional. Think about the DMV and MTA employees is the best image I can paint for you.
