My son lives in the meatpacking district, which is where I'm staying now. I'm headed back to Scranton in a few days.
I put "independent woman" in quotes. There's really no such thing. But there are women who have been deluded into thinking they're independent.
I knew "Um, that's where my son lives…" was coming. :roll eyes:
Suggesting that there's no such thing as an independent woman is far too over the top even for the best of trolls. You want to draw people into an absurd argument, which is why you (clumsily) created this fake persona, but you went too far. A good troll isn't such an obvious caricature, and also doesn't leave such obvious crumbs as saying they live in NYC in one thread, and pretending to be a cartoon character considering living in NYC.
Ladies, I'm considering moving to New York City next year. My son lives here and I visit him once or twice a year. What I see of the city I find satisfactory. But I don't know how I'd like living here year round.
1. What is the quality of mother-son relationships in the city?
2. Are people with traditional sexual morality accepted in the city? (e.g., no premarital sex, stay-at-home mothers, strong husband who leads, anti-pornography, anti-feminism)
3. How are elderly women treated?
4. Do Catholics have a strong influence in the city?
5. Are there any masonic lodges in the city?
6. What is a good area of the city for elderly white women to live?
Thank you, and I look forward to reading your responses.
No specific comments but the totality of your questions just indicates to me you'll have a horrible time living in NYC.
I can see that you are a DebbieDowner, who likes to suspect the worst in people.
And I suspect you are Church Lady, who is the type of character you're trying to create here, just to get a rise out of people... who have all seen this tired act before.

This is a FAMILY ISSUE. No one knows this, except the mother and son.

NYC is NOT the right place for you, if the above is important to you. Lots of premarital sex. Lots and lots of it. Don't know about the SAHM and "strong husband who leads" stuff, but it sounds like something that you would find in the midwest or flyover states that no one cares about. Lots of porn too.

3. How are elderly women treated?
If they're annoying they will be treated accordingly. If they're cool and not a bother, then they'll be given respect, I suppose.

4. Do Catholics have a strong influence in the city?
Not like it used to be, but it's still felt.

5. Are there any masonic lodges in the city?
Don't know. Hit google.

The same places for elderly black, hispanic and asian women to live. Is there a difference in how white elderly women live compared to other cultures?

1.) Widely varied.
2.) Widely varied, again. There are large pockets where this is the case. The Muslim and Catholic ones tend to be more immigrant than Americanized; the Jewish ones more Hasidic or Modern Orthodox than Reform.
3.) I think we in NYC treat seniors (both genders) better as a whole than the overall US.
4.) Yes. There are many observant Catholics in city politics. Cardinal Dolan is one of the best known Religious figures in the US.
5.) There are many, but I think that unlike DC you will find just as many B'Nai B'Rith and KofC establishments due to our large Jewish and Italian populations. All three of these fraternal orders have aging populations.
6.) I can only guess based on trends or even stereotypes but if you mean "quiet and safe" I think your best options may be in the more suburban parts of Queens or Staten Island. So many other considerations I couldn't answer not knowing about transit needs, budget, etc.
Good luck!
