I guess the same can be said about Queens. I have a co-worker who insists she lives in Douglaston, not Queens.
Douglaston is a special neighborhood, one of the most beautiful in NYC, and Riverdale is right up there with it. Both have lovely homes set back from the curb built in the 1900s, homes that simply aren't built the same today. Both neighborhoods aren't just *good neighborhoods* for their respective boroughs. They are amazing nabes. Would take Douglaston over Forest Hills Gardens and even Neponsit.
If some ask what part or where is Mott haven located. I'd day Bronx but what part. I would be more specific and say South Bronx. Throgs neck, city Island, coop city refer to thier place names. Some decent part of thr Bronx also refer to the street like Pelham Parkway or Allerton.
Read my post again. I mentioned that an exception would be the more upscale neighborhoods on the far West and East of the Borough, meaning places like Riverdale, Throggs Neck, Country Club, etc.
He doesn't read too good, especially if he can find some part to misread or take out of context and then go on a neurotic jag where he runs his mouth about some opinion or another. This is the beauty of a forum as mixed and varied as the NYC forum--we have such a great diversity here!
